I will begin by telling you that I am extremely honored to have been asked to speak at this momentous event in Don Funks life and career. Very few people are able to reflect on a life that is overflowing with incredible experiences and unprecedented business success …… and even fewer of those will be selfless enough to take the time and significant effort to share with the world how they did what they did. Don’s reputation in the industry and leadership were already nationally acknowledged and in an ironic twisting of the roles for the incoming owner ….. my greatest concern was whether he would accept me into his world of success!

There is a small group of people who manage to transcend the very roles that they play in this world and Don definitely fits that class. Despite building our business to be the highest volume most profitable Canadian Tire service center in the country that was just table stakes for Don. His sincerest goal was to build a business model that would help to grow all those all of around him and to coach other service individuals and businesses and watch them flourish under his tutorship. While he is very tactical, and customer focused he is truly a strategic thinker and has the vision and understanding to execute all levels of business. While Don may be not as young as he once was; I have always been amazed at his ability to adapts to an ever-changing business landscape and to always be able to see what is coming around the next corner.
